Alderwasley Hall School and Sixth Form provides exceptional education for day and residential students aged 5 to 20. They transform the lives of young people with High-Functioning ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), Asperger’s Syndrome, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and Developmental Language Disorder. They’re also highly experienced in meeting associated diagnoses and needs, such as Selective Mutism, anxieties and phobias.
The goal for every one of the students is to be happy and healthy with a sense of belonging and purpose. Teacher, therapists, learning support workers and care staff work together to achieve three core aims; a sense of belonging, a sense of productivity and emotional and physical wellbeing.

If your local authority supports your request for a placement they will send your child’s referral papers. If they do not support your request please contact the Assessment Team for advice. Once they have received your child’s papers and met them personally they make a decision whether to invite your child for assessment. Assessments usually take between two and four days. Assessments for students with very complex needs can last up to 6 weeks to ensure appropriate study of needs. After the assessment has taken place they report findings to the Local Authority and parents confirming if a placement at the school would be suitable or not. A child doesn’t need specific qualifications to get a place with us. They simply need to feel confident that we have the resources and expertise to help them gain an education and reach their potential. They accept children and young people from all backgrounds, from across the UK and abroad.
International students: The SENAD Group holds a Tier 4 (child) Sponsor Licence which enables to consider applications for students from overseas.
