Barugh Green Primary School is a State Primary school for kids aged 4 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

Welcome to the website! Barugh Green is a thriving primary school on the edge of Barnsley in South Yorkshire. They have 330 children on roll, taught by a dedicated team of teaching and support staff.BG is a school set on a path of rigorous and exciting improvement. The ambition is high and our commitment is strong.  The foundation motto is Excellence: EVERYthing; EVERYone; EVERYwhere - they are striving, everyday for the very best for our learners and families.  They are committed to the development of a curriculum that meets the needs of learners in the 21st Century in an environment of enjoyment, security and achievement.

Curriculum
They have worked hard to completely re-design our entire school curriculum over the past school year.  They are excited to continue to develop The Excellent Curriculum by BG for 2021-2022.  Each curriculum subject is led by a teacher in school, who completes an annual action plan and long term planning document.  They deliver the wider curriculum by subject and this is enriched with visits out of school and visitors into school.Please speak to your child's class teacher for details of their current learning.All children in school experience a daily reading lesson - in EYFS and Key Stage One this includes daily synthetic phonics teaching. In Year Two and across Key Stage Two, all children have a daily Whole Class Reading lesson, where they explore the key skills and knowledge for effective comprehension.All children in school are taught a daily writing lesson and these lessons build to regular, extended and independent writing.

Extra Curricular Activities
They operate a regular programme of clubs and after-school provision.  In the past these have included dance, gymnastics, football, chess and a range of other sports and activities.
