Description

Oughtibridge Primary School is a State Primary school for kids aged 4 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

Our school aims are to aspire to be the best we can, inspire all our children and motivate them to learn through an outstanding curriculum and be as successful as they can.Ofsted recognised the exceptional work of the school and it was rated Outstanding in all areas in the 2013 inspection. Although children’s academic achievements are very important they develop a range of other skills to ensure all pupils reach their potential. Many children are learning to play a musical instrument and every child takes part in school concerts. They encourage children to cycle and have gained the bronze ‘Bike It’ Award.   The vast majority of children take part in the many extra curricula activities and are rewarded with Children’s University credits. Several children have already received their gold award (over 100 hours of extra-curricular activities) from the Children’s University Programme with several continuing to earn hours towards a diploma. Children thoroughly enjoy the many sporting activities on offer and take part in a range of competitive sports.

Curriculum
At Oughtibridge Primary School we aim to provide a curriculum to develop inquisitive, independent thinkers with a love of learning. They understand that the curriculum, both within taught lessons and beyond them, should create an environment where questioning, academic risk-taking, divergent thinking and the freedom to learn from mistakes are all encouraged. The curriculum should be seen in its widest sense as the entire planned learning experience. This includes formal lessons as well as events, routines, and learning that take place outside the classroom. It should be seen within the overall aims and ethos of the School, which are at the core of its objectives.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
At Oughtibridge Primary School, we are proud of our work with our children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).  It is really important to us that we are a welcoming school and that Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do.  Inclusion means making sure all pupils have equal access to opportunities in school.  This sometimes involves making reasonable adjustments to help children join in, or keep them safe. The approach we take in school is in line with the National Code of Practice and SEND reforms, which came into effect in September 2014.

Things to note

Extracurricular Music
Music is really important to us at Oughtibridge and we believe every child should have the right to experience performing. The school choir rehearses after school on a Monday. The choir children also have the very exciting opportunity to sing at the Young Voices Concert at the Sheffield Arena. All pupils in Year 3, also have the wonderful opportunity to learn to play the violin. They also have peripatetic music teachers who come into school each week, offering lessons in guitar, violin and piano. They believe there are many benefits to learning to play an instrument. It can help children develop patience and develop memory skills. It can also improve academic results, physical development, develop resilience and increase children’s self-esteem.

Sports
While at Oughtibridge, they want pupils to be able to represent the school at Sporting events. Pupils have the opportunity to take part in Sports Days and other sporting events.Oughtibridge Primary is part of the LINKS School Sport Partnership which is an organisation that is made up of families of schools based around several secondary schools across the city. They support and develop PE and sports within our school giving pupils and staff many opportunities to ensure the high delivery of PE lessons.
