4+ Entry - Assessment
The main point of entry into the Junior School is at age 4+. All applicants are invited to attend an assessment in the January of the year of entry.
The 4+ assessments are conducted informally, like a playgroup session. Girls work in small groups with a teacher on a variety of games and puzzles in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere for one hour. Successful candidates are recalled for a second assessment shortly afterwards, again to work in small groups with a member of staff for an hour. Offers are sent out on a date agreed by members of the North London Independent Girls’ Schools Consortium.
KEY DATES for 2021 Entry
Application Form for 11+ 2021 Entry
Our overriding concern at Channing is to reduce stress for our applicants by asking them to sit as few exams as possible. Therefore in conjunction with many other schools in London this year, Channing will use the ISEB Common Pre-Test to assess candidates for entry to Year 7 in September 2021.
Candidates can choose to sit the ISEB pre-test at their own school, at any senior school also offering the ISEB Common Pre-Test for their entrance test or at Channing School on 7th January 2021.
We request a school reference for all applicants and invite all candidates to attend an interview. Our policy is to offer places on the basis of the whole picture created by the examination result, the school reference and the interview performance. We look very carefully at all three aspects to gauge a candidate’s potential.
