Charlotte House Prep School is regarded as one of the finest schools in the area; an independent all-girls’ Nursery and Prep School, offering the very best education for girls aged 3-11. Charlotte House Prep School was founded in 1931 by Miss Kitching. Originally known as the Rickmansworth PNEU, the school offered girls an all-round education based on the educational principles devised by Miss Charlotte Mason, the founder member of the PNEU movement. These principles were that education should be a positive extension from home life and that learning should be fun.More than 80 years later, Charlotte House Prep School is regarded as one of the finest schools in the area; an all-girls’ prep school, offering the very best in Art, Literature, Music and Science, just as Miss Charlotte Mason would have wanted.
NURSERY
The girls and their families know when they join us they belong to a friendly community where every individual is valued. The delight on the girls’ faces when they realise that everyone knows their name and people have time to stop and ask them about their day is really very special. Our Nursery is always a hive of activity and when you visit you will be amazed at how confident the girls are. They will be keen to tell you all about their day and want to show you their classroom; you may never be allowed to leave!
PRE-PREP
They welcome new girls into our Reception as well as the girls stepping up from our Nursery. Thanks to our excellent child: adult ratio we provide bespoke individualised learning journeys for our girls. The curriculum is designed to develop a love of learning and instil the confidence to explore and ask questions. The girls continue to have specialist teachers for Spanish, Music and PE. Girls are encouraged and challenged to ensure they learn at their own pace with support and extension activities provided during every lesson. Parents are encouraged to be involved with their daughter’s learning with access to their daughter’s learning platform on Tapestry and termly newsletters detailing the curriculum for the term. Do come and visit us to see what a happy Reception with active learners looks like!
PREP SCHOOL
In Prep School, in addition to your daughter’s sense of achievement in academic areas, she will have developed a real moral sense. Through learning how to interact with each other and in looking at the wider world and everything that is happening there, Charlotte House girls have a real sense of what is right and wrong. Our girls understand the importance of things some schools may regards as old-fashioned such as good manners, kindness and helpfulness.
FORMS III – VI
At this stage in your daughter’s school career, she will be playing in matches against other schools, taking part in major dramatic (and musical) productions and be enjoying the majority of her lessons being taught by subject specialists. Across the curriculum their horizons are broadening; there are so many opportunities for the girls to extend their studies, whether in Maths, Music, Drama or Science – or simply by joining one of the many extra-curricular activities. From Form IV girls are prepared for entry into Senior School. We discuss this process with parents very carefully in order to ensure that each girl goes to the school that is absolutely right for her. Each year we assist our leavers in finding a place at the school of their choice. We achieve this through a combination of extensive academic preparation(which includes verbal and non-verbal reasoning); discussions with parents and our knowledge of local schools and their entrance requirements. One thing is sure: no girl ever leaves this school without having achieved her full potential.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR CLUBS
They offer an exciting and varied range of extra-curricular activities to provide our pupils with the opportunity to develop a wide range of interests and skills.Charlotte House clubs currently on offer include Drama, Gymnastics, Tae Kwando, Netball, Tennis, Science, Maths, Gardening, Ballet, Chess, Board Games, Library, Computers and language clubs covering Spanish, British Sign Language and Russian. SCHOOL OUTINGS

Much of what a child learns takes place beyond the classroom walls.School outings and excursions are carefully planned to ensure that they support the curriculum and will provide the girls with a safe, stimulating experience.
