Admission Details

ENTERING PRE-PREP OR NURSERY: As a gently selective school, they invite all prospective children for an admissions visit. Pre-Nursery and Nursery children will be invited to a short ‘stay and play session’ to ensure that they will be happy and settled in the environment. Reception children and above will be invited to spend the morning alongside pupils of the same age and will complete gentle tasks with one of the teachers in line with age related expectations. There will be a Reception assessment morning on 7 October 2022. The admissions team will be in touch shortly after your admissions visit to confirm if they are in a position to offer a place or waiting list place. Should an offer of a place be made, families will have up to three weeks to complete the relevant paperwork and pay the £1,000 deposit in order to secure the place. Please note, all new joiners for a September start are warmly invited to a settling in event in the summer term in order to meet classmates, teachers and for parents to meet the PTA.

ENTERING THE PREP SCHOOL: As a gently selective school, which places children at the centre of thinking, they aim to offer an admissions process which helps you and your child to feel confident that you have found your best fit school. They welcome enquiries at any time and, where places are available, will consider applications for entry within the current year as well as, more typically, for the next academic year. A small number of spaces are available for entry into Year 3 and 5 at the start of each academic year; early application for these places is advisable. The Prep School expands from two classes to three in Year 4, which also makes this a good point of entry. Places for Year 6 are rarely available and often subject to a waiting list. Mrs Claire Williams is your point of contact for admissions into Prep School and she is available to answer your initial enquiries at [email protected] or on 01372 473 794

ENTERING THE SENIOR SCHOOL: The main entry point into Senior School is in Year 7, where they offer in the region of 60 external places. The aim is to have an equal split of boys and girls to create an inclusive learning environment. Whilst they remain a gently selective school, they do advise that applicants in Year 6 will need to be comfortably meeting national expectations in English or maths in order to be comfortable with the pace of the curriculum in the Senior School. Mrs Claire Williams is your point of contact for admissions into Year 7 and is available to answer your initial enquiries at [email protected] or on 01372 473 794. Alternatively, you can fill in an enquiry form by clicking here. The entrance assessments will be held on 3 December 2022. Written papers are set in English comprehension and English creative writing, mathematics and non-verbal reasoning. All the papers are designed to reveal the potential of the individual candidate. Following a satisfactory result in the entrance examination, successful applicants are invited for a short interview with a senior member of staff in January. Applicants will be invited to talk about their interests, school activities, approach to studies and their character qualities.

ENTERING SIXTH FORM: All prospective pupils will be invited to sit an assessment during the latter half of the autumn term. They will then be inviting applicants to an interview with a senior member of staff. Successful applicants will be offered a place conditional on meeting any prerequisite GCSE grades. Prospective A level students are expected to achieve seven or more GCSE grades at 9-4 (including maths and English) and specifically achieve high grades in their chosen / related A level subjects.
