Durlston Court School is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 2 to 14 (Gender - 2 to 14 )
Durlston Court is a wonderful independent school in a wonderful environment, situated on the border of Hampshire and Dorset, at the edge of the New Forest and by the sea! The purpose is to provide an exceptional education for every child. This starts in our wonderful Kindergarten (age two upwards), through our Pre-Prep Department (Reception to Year 2) and then onto the Middle and Senior School. Whenever your child joins the school you can be sure that we develop happy, confident and successful children who flourish in an inspiring and nurturing environment where learning opportunities are limitless. Excellence, integrity and challenge are fostered as core values of the Durlston Family.
Kindergarten
The youngest members of the Durlston family begin their journey in Kindergarten. Excellent ratios and experienced staff mean that we are able to care for each child as the unique individual that they are. Each will settle, learn and grow in different ways and we wholeheartedly embrace this.
Prep School
Walking through the door of Pre-Prep each morning, our Durlston families are welcomed by a team of passionate staff who know and love each and every child. Small class sizes with high adult ratios ensure that we can nurture every child both socially and academically. We recognise that each child will learn from their own unique starting point and great care is taken to plan an educational journey that is exactly right for each individual.
Middle School
The Middle School is a hive of activity where children have the opportunity to participate in a huge range of new and exciting experiences. Whether your child has a natural flair for sailing, sewing, saxophone or science, we will seek out the aspect of learning that really makes him or her ‘tick’.
Senior School
The Senior children embody what it means to be a Durlstonian - confident, kind, hard-working and not afraid to push themselves to the limit, whether in the classroom, on the sports field, when performing to a large audience or when bog running on Dartmoor!
Forest School
Forest School is eagerly anticipated. As wellies and waterproofs are put on, everybody knows that adventures await! The Den really comes to life with a huge range of activities to stimulate and promote learning. Surely every Durlston family is the proud owner of a wooden disc, carefully sawn.
Clubs
When the school day finishes, the opportunities for fun and learning do not end. Children from Year 1 upwards can discover an exciting range of activities to engage with. The programme changes each term and parents are invited to sign up in advance.
Art and Ceramics Studios
The light and spacious art and ceramic studios are inspirational environments in which children can explore their creativity. This two-storey dedicated building also hosts its own Art Courtyard where children can take their learning outdoors.
Design Technology Centre
The Design and Technology Centre was designed and built with creative engineering in mind. An inspirational facility which is fully equipped with 3D printers, laser cutter and laptops to enable CAD and CAM (Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture) to be taught alongside textiles and woodwork.
Drama
The school has a history of impressive drama productions. The use of specialist sound and lighting equipment combined with tiered seating, showcase the many talented thespians.
Library
The Libraries are learning and pastoral hubs at Durlston. They are well resourced and enable children to develop a passion for books and reading. The inclusion of comfortable chairs, magazines, board games and audio books also help to make the library a popular place for children to gather and socialise at break times.
Pre-Prep
A bright, stimulating home for our young children. In addition to spacious classrooms, Pre-Prep has its own library and hall with a stage. Dedicated outdoor areas include an adventure playground, role-play boat, secret garden and amphitheatre.
Sport
The extensive sports facilities are used on a daily basis by children from across the school. These include multi-purpose hard courts for netball and tennis, a heated outdoor swimming pool with changing rooms and showers, an all-weather flood lit astro turf for hockey, football and tennis, a well-equipped sports hall used for gymnastics, dance and other indoor sports, ample playing fields equipped for rugby, football, cricket, rounders and athletics and changing rooms with showers. There is also separate kit storage for each child.
