Admission Details

JOINING PREPARATORY SCHOOL: Each girl wishing to join the Preparatory Department is invited in to School for an age-appropriate assessment day during which her academic ability and potential are tested. 

ADMISSION TO YEAR 7 (11+): Edgbaston High school is a selective school. Girls applying for entry to Year 7 are assessed on the basis of Entrance Assessments in English, Mathematics, NVR and an interview. 

SIXTH FORM: All candidates for the Sixth Form, internal and external, are required to obtain the following qualifications for entry:

  • A minimum of six GCSEs at Grades 6-9 including English and Mathematics
  • The individual GCSE grade requirement for each A Level subject of choice, as laid out in Sixth Form Subject Prospectus

Scholarships

The following named scholarships are awarded annually at 11+ (entry to Year 7) and are based on a girl's performance in the Entrance Examination:

  • CHAMBERLAIN SCHOLARSHIP: An academic scholarship, awarded to a girl from the EHS Preparatory School.
  • DIXON SCHOLARSHIP: An academic scholarship, awarded to an external candidate from the maintained sector.
  • ANTHEA CADBURY SCHOLARSHIP: An academic scholarship. This is open to all candidates.
  • MARTINEAU SCHOLARSHIP: In addition to the general Entrance Examination for a place in Year 7 (11+), girls have the option to apply for the 11+ Martineau Music Scholarship, which can be up to a value of 50% remission of fees.
  • EHS SCHOLARSHIPS: In addition, the School has a number of EHS Scholarships that are awarded to candidates who have reached an excellent standard in the Entrance Examination.
