Admission Details

MPW Birmingham aims to put the needs of students first and believes passionately that the courses we provide fit around a student’s aspirations and not the other way round. This is why they offer flexible programmes for GCSE and A level students that are tailor made to maximise their chances of academic success. They are proud of the fact that they are academically non-selective and help students achieve great things. They have demonstrated an ability to get the best from high flyers aiming for Medical School, Dentistry or Oxbridge as well as helping other students whose prior school learning experiences were unsatisfactory. The interview will assess whether they can offer courses that are suitable to a student’s needs, and gauge whether the student has a good “fit” with MPW Birmingham. Once a place has been offered, references will always be requested from a student’s current school or college. The team here are always willing to help prospective students and parents find out more about the College and what they offer. Please contact the College on 0121 454 9637 or email [email protected] to request a prospectus or arrange an informal initial meeting and tour of the College. The college is open for visits every weekday during the summer holiday. They also hold a number of Open Days throughout the academic year, giving prospective students, parents and guardians the opportunity to look around MPW Birmingham and meet students and staff.

Fees

The tuition fees at MPW depend on the number and level of the courses being studied. They do not have a fixed fee per year group and, indeed, many students at MPW combine courses across year groups. The basic fee for full-time students is £10,765 per term at both A level and GCSE.

Scholarships

Each year MPW awards a number of academic scholarships to help fund the fees of gifted and talented students who are likely to gain particular benefit from academic provision and the more general opportunities the college has to offer.

Academic scholarships are awarded entirely on academic merit and students sit the college’s Scholarship Exam following a formal application process.

Type and nature of awards available:

  • Academic scholarships: awarded to students who are able to demonstrate excellent general all round academic ability or outstanding ability in a particular subject area.
  • Creative and performing arts scholarships: awarded to students who are able to demonstrate excellence in art, drama or music.
  • The Woodward scholarship: named in honour of Robert Woodward, one of the founders of MPW, and awarded to a student studying English Literature as one of their subjects at A level.

Each year MPW sets a budget for academic awards based on anticipated fee income. The value of scholarships ranging between 15-40% of tuition fees, with the exception of the Woodward Scholarship which is up to a full fees award. Scholarships are typically valid for the entire duration of the programme for which a student is enrolled.
