Farringtons School is one of Kent’s leading independent co-educational day and boarding schools, for pupils aged 3-18.

The facilities include outdoor tennis and netball courts, hockey, rugby and football pitches, large sports hall, dance studio, rounder’s squares, art studio, archery range, motor sports track and a 20 metre indoor swimming pool.

In the Junior PE Department at Farringtons, they pride themselves on the variety of sports the pupils experience throughout the year, whether it is during the timetabled curriculum, or the many extra-curricular clubs before and after school.

They offer lessons on the following instruments:  Piano, Strings – Violin, Viola and Cello, Woodwind – Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon and Saxophone, Brass – Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Baritone and Tuba, Guitar – Acoustic and Electric, Drum Kit and Voice.

Admission Details

Year 7 Entry: September 2023

Assessment Procedure: the entrance examination is held in the Autumn Term prior to transfer. External applicants must have a reference and report from their current school and will be invited to attend for interview.

The examination consists of papers in: 

  • Extended writing task 
  • Mathematics 
  • A computer-based exam to identify a student's unique academic profile 

Sample papers will be available in advance of the examination day to parents who have registered their child for the examination.

Fees

Junior School Fees
Pre-Reception:

  • 5 Sessions: £1,850 (e.g. 5 mornings)
  • 5 Full Days: £3,700 (includes lunches) per term

Reception - Year 6:
Day Pupil: £4,570 (includes lunches) per term

Senior School Fees

  • Day Pupil: £5,750 (includes lunches) per term
  • Weekly Boarder: £9,580 per term
  • Full Boarder: £12,030 per term
  • Flexi-Boarding for current day pupils: £35.00 per night (2 - 10 nights) £72.00 per night (10+ nights)

Scholarships

Year 3A number of scholarships will be offered to exceptional pupils who demonstrate outstanding academic ability. The value of any scholarship is up to 25% per annum and each is linked to any change in fee levels, which are subject to regular review. 

Year 7: Farringtons offers a number of scholarships to exceptional pupils. The value of any scholarship is up to 30% per annum (with the potential exception of the Sixth Form Academic Scholarship) and each is linked to any change in fee levels, which are subject to regular review. All Scholarship and Exhibition Awards are formally reviewed annually and providing the requirements of the award are being fulfilled and academic progress is deemed suitable, Scholars can expect school fee remission until the end of their Sixth Form studies.

Year 12: Sixth Form Academic Scholarships are available each year; two for pupils currently studying at Farringtons in Year 11 and one for pupils joining us from other schools. In the case of internal Scholarships, the awards are based upon academic performance to date and a Scholarship examination, comprising a one-hour general academic paper.
