NURSERY
Welcome to the Gatehouse Nursery; a purpose built stand-alone facility for two year olds where your child can learn, explore and investigate in a secure and nurturing environment. The dedicated and mature staff work in close partnership with you to understand and enhance the development of your child as an individual learner. Nursery children are very much a part of the wider Gateways community, sharing facilities and interacting with other pupils easing transitions up the school. LITTLEGATES
Welcome to Littlegates, the home of our Early Years classes; Pre-Reception and Reception. Littlegates is filled with busy, happy children engaged in purposeful learning opportunities enabling them to thrive and reach their full potential, in a safe and secure environment. But don’t take my word for it, come and see for yourself!Classes in Littlegates have their own dedicated fully qualified Early Years practitioners who work closely with PE and Music specialists throughout the school. Learning is hands on and active to motivate children to become independent, have their own ideas and make links in their experiences. This promotes creative and critical thinking skills.Pre-reception pupils are housed in a challenging learning space which broadens and invites children to develop the skills they need to thrive and achieve. There is a strong emphasis on preparing children for school. Social skills, literacy and numeracy are given a high priority via carefully planned and structured learning opportunities.
PREP SCHOOL
Welcome to Gateways Prep School which caters for children aged 5 to 11. They are proud to be able to offer your child a personal education due to the small class sizes and individual pupil attention. The cross curricular approach is coupled with subject specialism allowing pupils to benefit from the expertise and enthusiasm of professionals in different areas of the curriculum. Due to our vertically integrated house system, Prep children get the opportunity to mix with High School, Sixth Form and Early Years pupils for house and fundraising events within the school. Children leave the Prep School at the age of 11 confident in their abilities and well prepared for the challenges of High School. HIGH SCHOOL
Welcome to Gateways High School where we provide an academically stimulating and challenging, yet supportive environment in which students can develop into mature and confident young adults. In addition to academic study, pupils are given the opportunity to engage in a wide range of extra-curricular pursuits including sport, music, drama and involvement in community outreach and fundraising activities. They warmly invite you to step through our gates and have a look for yourself as to whether Gateways might be the right fit for your child.All pupils follow a broad curriculum which currently includes the following subjects; English, Maths, Art, Spanish, Latin, Geography, History, Music, Religious Studies, Drama, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Food Technology, Textiles, Computing, Physical Education and PSHE.French and German are introduced in Upper 4 (year 9), when pupils must decide whether to also continue with Spanish.
SIXTH FORM
Gateways Sixth Form affords students a wonderful opportunity to develop their academic, as well as personal development over what is two of the most demanding years of their lives. Students are encouraged to work hard academically but also to ensure they immerse themselves fully in the life of the school – and beyond. They will develop their leadership qualities in many ways throughout their time and undertake a variety of duties at break and lunchtimes and lead the House, organising music, sporting, drama, charity and general whole school events. The Enrichment programme contains everything from Study Skills sessions and English Speaking Board Examinations to more practical elements such as personal finance and cooking for oneself; university and careers modules are embedded within this. Due to our small class sizes, the teaching staff really get to know our students
EXTRA-CURRICULAR
Gateways offers an extensive extra-curricular programme, comprising of various activities ranging from dodgeball to debating and including everything in between! Extra-curricular opportunities are available to pupils from Pre-Reception to Sixth Form. The majority of these are provided free of charge. There are some additional activities, run by external providers, which are charged for.

Scholarships
Each year a limited number of scholarship awards are available to pupils entering Year 7, Year 9 and Sixth Form at Gateways. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit, following either examination or assessment and interview depending on the type of scholarship applied for. They can be worth up to 25% of the fee. They offer Academic, Arts (Music, Drama and Art & Design) and Sports Awards to pupils who demonstrate exceptional ability. Candidates may apply for more than one scholarship. Scholarships are applicable throughout a pupil’s career at Gateways, subject to an annual performance review.
Bursaries
A bursary at Gateways School is a means-tested financial award for families who experience a temporary period of financial hardship and this is subject to annual review. There is a limited number of bursary awards available.Bursaries may be awarded in addition to the award of scholarship.
