They are an independent prep school and nursery, for boys and girls aged two to eleven, located in the heart of Corsham, Wiltshire, with two acres of beautiful gardens where children play, explore and learn.At the heart of the ethos is learning tailored to every child, and this is built into the curriculum through the Individualised Learning sessions. HEYWOOD NURSERY
Housed in Corsham’s old Fire Station, small class sizes ensure your child gets all the support they need to grow and develop, year round. The days are packed with fun and imagination, with new friends to make and new skills to learn. The highly experienced and dedicated staff create a safe and nurturing environment where children thrive, explore and let their curiosity lead them to more exciting discoveries.Outside there’s lots of space to let off steam: they have a dedicated Nursery playground set up for all sorts of games, as well as the hugely popular walled Nursery garden.

MAIN SCHOOL
The main school at Heywood is divided into Pre-Prep, for children in Reception to Year 2, and Prep, for Year 3 to Year 6. Each part of the school has its own Head, allowing them to deliver an outstanding education that is engaging, relevant and forward looking for children of all ages.Throughout school, from the youngest to the oldest, the key focus is on helping every child thrive and achieve his or her potential. The Individualised Learning sessions are built into the curriculum, and give them the flexibility to provide each girl and boy with extra support or fresh challenges according to their particular needs, keeping them interested in the experience of learning.Children of all ages are able to try out a wide range of opportunities, from sports and music, to residential trips and entrepreneurship. These are designed to widen their horizons, and build skills, confidence and a willingness to experience new things without fear of failure.

SPORT
Sport is flourishing at Heywood due to recent investment and the strong links they have established with local sporting organisations. The School is committed to teaching pupils a broad, balanced sports programme. It is tailored to each individual and prepares children for a lifelong love and involvement in sport and physical activity.The department prides itself on engaging and encouraging others to participate and develop core gross motor skills. They aim to inspire, enthuse and involve the children in a wide ranging programme. The pupils benefit from sport not just physically, but in the opportunity it provides to develop teamwork, decision-making and social skills.

MUSIC AND PERFORMING ARTS
They are extremely proud that Music and performing arts are a real strength of Heywood Prep and we offer a comprehensive range of opportunities for children to learn an instrument, sing, dance and perform. Every child from Reception to Year 6 has at least one specialist music lesson and one singing practice per week.Throughout their time at Heywood, all pupils will have the opportunity to learn a tuned and an untuned instrument including; violin, flute, djembe and more! Children learn about all styles of music and will develop their singing working in parts and harmonies.

Admission to Heywood Prep is open to all who meet our entry requirements, regardless of gender, race, religious, socio-economic or cultural background. Heywood Prep is pleased to accept applications for children to join in various age groups and maintains a partially selective policy for admissions. The school is, therefore, mixed ability by nature and in keeping with its aims to provide a balanced, well-rounded education.
