Facilities

Classroom Learning
The learning environment is key and access to the quiet outdoor area for collaborative play or calming activities helps us feel secure. In Eclipse, they continue the Nurture Principles that are embedded in the boy's routine in Victory Class. They develop the social skills through play-based learning, team building activities and social activities such as elevenses. In Eclipse, they know that it's great to make mistakes! They do the best learning when they feel safe to try new things and explore new concepts. They access the curriculum through a range of Learning Experiences which help us get excited about the learning. The classroom backs onto the playing fields, quarry and woodland area. They enjoy direct access to our outside area, which they use as an extension to the classroom, and make full use of the great learning environment. The majority of our learning is cross-curricular and experienced over six half month topics which we call learning experiences. These include 'Crime and Punishment'; 'The Maya in the Americas' and 'Planet Earth'.

Things to note

Outdoor Learning
Owl School activities for this half- term are based on woodland bush craft skills and a range of environmental craft based tasks. Pupils will get the opportunity to learn practical tasks such as how to follow tracking symbols, use a compass, create some temporary shelters, learn key survival skills and design their own miniature garden. The emphasis for this term is on developing peer collaboration, as pupils will tackle many of these tasks in pairs or as part of small teams sharing resources and space.  The environmental tasks seek to make pupils aware of how everyday items can be recycled and reused. Towards the end of the Term, pupils will get the chance to take part in several environmental activities linked to the planned Environmental Day on the 28th June.  Pupils’ will also get the chance to take part in a giant litter pick linked to this themed day and hopefully help to highlight the hazards litter poses to the natural environment.
