Facilities

Pre Prep
In Pre-Prep, they set up the conditions in which pupils thrive, helping them establish secure relationships with each other and our staff, instilling a love of learning, and laying foundations for their future. They keep in close contact with parents, using technology such as Tapestry (an online learning journal for Early Years settings) as well as more traditional forms of communication to share insights about pupils’ progress, development and successes. Children will learn a selection of songs using scarves, teddies and musical instruments; there's even a surprise box each week! Sessions are run by Amanda Slogrove a Sherborne Prep School Music Teacher. The cost is £2.50 per family.

Prep
They are a non-selective school, because they believe that every child should be given the opportunity to find their talents. The role is to help that process, creating an environment in which every pupil thrives. They are proud of our reputation in Dorset, the South West and beyond as a leading independent school at the forefront of private preparatory education. They have an excellent record of academic success, with an average of 40 per cent of our Year 8s gaining a range of scholarships to a variety of high-quality senior schools. These achievements are important and they celebrate them throughout the School. But they are also committed to our value-added performance, helping every pupil achieve their full potential during their time at Sherborne Prep.

Features

Things to note

Co Curricular
Co-curricular activities bring enormous value in a school like theirs. They provide a chance to step away from formal learning, garnering a rich variety of experiences that form character, deepen understanding and stimulate new knowledge. They offer a busy and varied co-curricular programme that offers something for every pupil. That way, every child in the School community has a chance to shine, and they can celebrate the diversity that is at the very heart of  life together.

Sport
Sport plays an important role in life at Sherborne Prep for all our pupils. The spirit and manner in which pupils at Sherborne Prep approach sport is central to all that is great about the school. Pupil development and a balanced all-round education is at the forefront of our approach to sport. It is obvious that sport is special to many pupils at Sherborne Prep! It regularly brings out the best in them and builds on the pride and spirit that undoubtedly exists within the school.

Art
They encourage every pupil to seek enrichment through Art and offer a variety of co-curricular clubs to stimulate their creativity and augment the knowledge they gain in the classroom. The Saturday Activities include painting workshops, a photography club, printmaking, pottery and clay modelling clubs, and a History of Art club. They organise two major art exhibitions each year and contribute to the National SATIPS Art Exhibition. This gives our pupils an opportunity to share their work and witness for themselves the enjoyment and insight it brings to others.

Activities & Clubs
Life at Sherborne Prep is all about seizing opportunities and the array of clubs and societies is designed to give pupils a chance to do just that. In Pre-Prep, they offer a range of lunchtime and after-school activities including golf, circus skills, judo, cookery, tennis, recorders, choir and strings.
