Things to note

  • Half of the boys play instruments, many playing more than one instrument, and many to an enviably high standard. 
  • They encourage involvement in Drama throughout the School, and many boys love the chance to tread the boards or work backstage. A
  • The Art Studios and D&T workshops are open across the day, and at weekends, so that boys can develop their work in their free time.
  • CCF consists of Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and Army sections. They are led by impressive Sixth Formers and supported by committed staff, many of whom have previous military experience. 
  • Boys at Sherborne are encouraged to exercise leadership in every sphere of their lives. 
  • They offer boys the chance to participate in all sorts of activities, including debating, radio broadcasting, philosophical discussion, D&T and Art workshops, Drama, mathematical challenges, creative writing workshops, outdoor pursuits, and charity work and volunteering.

Selection Criteria: Selective

Admission Details

The majority of boys registered for Third Form (Year 9 entry) will be tested in January of Year 7 at one of the Assessment Days. The boys sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test and will complete a piece of creative writing. They will also have an interview with a senior member of academic staff and undertake a group task. They will look at a boy's performance in each of these areas, along with a confidential reference from the boy's current school. Following the Assessment Days the Headmaster will then make his offers of places for entry in September of Year 9. Sherborne now offers optional Year 6 testing for Third Form places. Sherborne School is a selective school and all boys wishing to gain entry must sit for entrance assessment, following registration. All offers to UK boys will be conditional and will be confirmed once they are in receipt of your sons GCSE results.

TERMLY FEES 2022/23:

  • Boarding: £13,995.00
  • Day: £11,095.00

Scholarships

  • Sherborne invites talented and enthusiastic boys entering Third Form or Sixth Form to apply for various scholarships and exhibitions that they offer. These awards range from academic and creative to musical and sporting. 
  • In return for demonstrating high levels of talent and commitment in their chosen discipline(s), award holders are given many opportunities to stretch themselves and develop their abilities through involvement in additional tutoring, coaching, lectures, societies and social activities.
  • Scholarships and other non means tested awards normally carry a maximum of 10% remission of the day or boarding fee (as applicable), excluding extras. This applies to single award holders and to those who are offered two awards where the maximum total remission will normally be 10%. In some cases, an honorary award may be made with no financial reward attached to it.
