Newcastle Preparatory School is Independent Primary school in Newcastle upon Tyne for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

Facilities

Nursery and Reception - EYFS
The children in First Steps and Reception learn through child-initiated and adult-initiated activities, using indoor and outdoor facilities and resources. They are encouraged to listen attentively and to enjoy discovering and experimenting. Surrounded by many learning opportunities the children can enjoy great success. They learn to read, write and use numbers in an exciting way and gain understanding of the world around them through many different Topics.

Years 1 and 2 - Key Stage 1
Different opportunities for developing reading skills enable children to approach all subjects with confidence. To foster Mathematical understanding and scientific awareness many practical activities take place each day.Also the foundation subjects are taught, often with a Topic approach appropriate for younger children, making learning an enjoyable experience.

Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 - Key Stage 2
The children are encouraged to develop and build on the skills and knowledge acquired in previous years. Research skills and problem solving techniques help children to achieve success across the curriculum. There is a good balance of different learning and teaching strategies so that children experience working in a variety of ways: whole class teaching, silent working time, small group activities, individual attention, using interactive technology

Art
An Art specialist looks after the art curriculum throughout school and from the age of six, children enjoy using the facilities in the Art and Design Studio. A range of techniques are taught and a wide range of media is used to help children to develop their own skills as well as appreciating the work of famous artists and designers.

Music
Music is enjoyed by all children at NPS. A vibrant Music Department, led by a Music specialist, provides opportunities for everyone to experience playing instruments, composing, singing and acting.
