At Newcastle School for Boys, we understand that an outstanding education is more than just a strong set of exam results – although they’re great too. Boys at our school become part of a community. Both academics and personal development are at the forefront of everything we do.An education at Newcastle School for Boys prepares our pupils for the ever changing challenges of the modern world. Boys are supported to lead successful and fulfilled lives during their time at school and beyond. In the classroom, our boy-focused curriculum is designed specifically to put the boys in the best possible position when they leave us at 18. Whether a boy has aspirations to study medicine, become a top-flight athlete or set up his own business, we believe we offer the best possible education to get him there. We also put great emphasis on future-proofing our curriculum ensuring they are educating boys for the job market of their generation.

Facilities

Early Years
A boy’s early years are invaluable to their development, impacting on their growth and success, even into adult life. As every parent knows, choosing the best learning environment for their son, even in the youngest years, is crucial. An Early Years education in Nursery and Reception at Newcastle School for Boys provides the building blocks for the rest of a boy’s education. Boys can join the Nursery and start their education at Newcastle School for Boys as early as the term they turn three, allowing them to start this growth even before they enter their school years. We are delighted to also now offer 30 free hours to those boys eligible under the government’s free childcare scheme.

Juniors
Along with the Early Years, our Junior School makes up one of the top private primary schools in Newcastle and the north east region. With the confidence, independence and knowledge instilled within our Nursery and Reception, boys go onto grow and develop throughout the Junior School, until they are ready to leave for the Senior School aged 11.From as early as Year 1, boys receive specialist teaching in a number of subjects such as French, ICT, Music and PE, in addition to learning within their class. Small class sizes mean that boys are challenged academically on an individual level – with reading, writing and numeracy as a key focus – allowing each boy to learn and develop at the most appropriate rate for them. Each boy’s progress is continuously monitored and formally reported back on to home at least once each term.

Seniors
Newcastle School for Boys’ Senior School is recognised as amongst the best secondary schools in Newcastle and the North East; both in the independent and state sector. At our Senior School, boys are provided with a high quality, supportive learning experience in small and boy-focused classes. With specialist teaching throughout, boys learn from teachers who share their passion and bring enjoyment to the boys’ learning. Boys are taught in carefully organised teaching groups in most subjects to ensure they receive the best possible teaching matched to their needs. Class arrangements are designed to be responsive to needs that may change over time.
