Releasing Potential School is Independent Secondary school in Not applicable for kids aged 11 to 18 (Gender - 11 to 18). At Releasing Potential School they are very proud to offer students opportunities to learn and achieve both within and beyond the formal curriculum.

Facilities

  • Different year groups have different curriculum focuses and children are allocated to the most appropriate group according to a combination of age, ability and need. Within each class differentiated programmes are followed giving a broad and balanced curriculum accessible for all.
  • The welfare of children and young people at Releasing Potential is paramount for all staff. Your child’s tutor has responsibility for the well-being of your child. Tutors are supported by the Head of School and her Assistants/Deputies. They can access advice and  support from a range of agencies including counselling services, Education Welfare, CAMHS and Social Care where appropriate.
  • All staff are experienced in working with a range of students with complex needs and they continually train and develop team to ensure they offer the best for students and their families. Students who work on a one-to-one basis will be matched with appropriate staff based on their needs and interests, and this will depend on the skills and qualifications of the individual tutor. All staff have ongoing training in a range of special educational needs, all undertake Level 3 qualification in the Management of Challenging Behaviour, all have regular safeguarding training and case management supervision from senior managers.

  • Outdoor Education programme is at the heart of what they do. They offer a range of activities to enable students to view themselves in a new light and have a realistic understanding of their potential within the context of the activities.
  • Students have the opportunity to gain nationally-recognised awards in sports and other pursuits, validating their learning and empowering them to continue enjoying activities that promote an active lifestyle and positive change.
  • They run National Governing Body accredited programmes with the British Canoe Union, National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme, Royal Yachting Association, Mountainbike Instructors Award Scheme, and National Navigation Award Scheme. They offer a range of activities to external groups, including through Coastal Centre, and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.
