Lower School
Welcome to lower school Disney class! Named after the inspirational Walt Disney. The aim is to spark a love of learning in the children and to learn through inquiry and discovery, and further explore their creative abilities and imagination. The teacher is Ms King and our TA is Natasha and they have a small group of up to 4 children in the class. They aim to give the children the best start on their Small Haven School journey, equipping them with the confidence and skills they will need to succeed, not only in school but in their everyday life.As the upper class in lower school, they continue to develop a love of learning through fun and engaging lessons whilst also preparing pupils for secondary education. Children are encouraged to discover their skills and interests and we shine a light on their achievements to promote a positive self-image as learners and individuals.
Middle School
They have two classes in Middle School at Small Haven - Keller and Nightingale. Florence Nightingale is known for great things. Her compassion, her commitment and her diligence to her work are what makes her such an icon, and allows the class to follow in her footsteps.Nightingale Class is one of the middle school classes at Small Haven and they aim to grow caring and nurturing individuals, who are each set on achieving their own personal goals. They are a creative group, who will show the learning, the ideas and express ourselves in the own individual way.
Upper School
They have two classes in Upper School at Small Haven - Rowling and Attenborough. The key focus is raising aspirations, empowering to increase confidence and enabling students to reach their individual full potential. Offering a balanced and relevant curriculum with a range of qualifications. We place a great emphasis on Maths and English which are delivered daily as they underpin all other subjects and are key to developing core life skills.KS4 is about preparing students for life, work and further education. This is achieved through stretch and challenge for academic attainment and personal growth, encouraging independence and responsibility, undertaking work experience, as well as spiritual, moral, social, cultural and physical development.
Home learning
Small Haven School works closely with parents to ensure every child makes the best progress possible. They understand that families lead busy lives and that getting your child to learn at home can be a challenge. However, reinforcing learning at home can help your child thrive within their education.The benefits of Home Work are: - It can improve your child’s thinking and memory. Homework teaches your child to take responsibility for his or her work. It allows your child to review and practice what has been covered in class. It helps your child to get ready for the next day’s class.

Small Haven School is a small independent specialist day provision that can cater for up to 36 pupils aged 6-19. It is a co-educational school for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). The small therapeutic nature of the school makes it an ideal setting for anxious and vulnerable pupils who require a highly-supported differentiated approach to learning.Pupils have come from both mainstream and specialist provision and make up a rich and diverse community. The majority of pupils have mild to moderate autism and anxiety. They also support pupils with attention deficit disorder, speech language and communication needs, mild learning disability, and social, emotional and mental health needs.All admissions will take place through close and joint working between the Kent Education Local Authority and the school.
