St Mary's Catholic High School, Chesterfield is a State Secondary school for kids aged 11 to 18 (Gender - Mixed)

St Mary’s is a large, yet close community. They take pride in our excellent pastoral care and aim to work in partnership with parents and carers to enable pupils to grow into successful, independent and thoughtful young adults. Through the commitment of all members of the school community and the talents of my outstanding teaching colleagues, they therefore aim to tap into the pupils’ sense of awe, wonder and curiosity and so contribute to their spiritual growth. The relationship between home, school and parish, with young people at the centre, created in the image of God, is essential for them to flourish and fulfil their human potential. The pastoral provision is exceptional, and all the staff work tirelessly to support our young people. Safeguarding and keeping the children safe is the golden thread that runs through all they do.

They strive to offer a personalised learning experience in which they are able to discover and develop the talents and abilities of each and every student in our care. A wide range of pathways ensures that all students are provided with the opportunity to grow, develop and realise their potential. The curriculum reflects the high aspirations they hold for the pupils. It is designed to meet the interests, needs and ambitions of all learners, including those who are disadvantaged and students with special educational needs. It is rigorous in covering the body of knowledge and skills required at each stage, whilst being inclusive, relevant and engaging. High-quality careers guidance supports pupils in forming and realizing their own ambitions as they move through the curriculum.
