St Mary's RC High School, Chesterfield is a State Secondary school for kids aged 11 to 18 (Gender - Mixed )

St Mary’s is a large, yet close community. They take pride in our excellent pastoral care and aim to work in partnership with parents and carers to enable pupils to grow into successful, independent and thoughtful young adults. The school is also a place of academic excellence and an environment in which all pupils can engage in their own spiritual development, in order to fulfil their God-given vocations. The Mission Statement, which runs through everything we do, is that we will ‘Live, love and learn in the Light of Christ’. This means that as a school they endeavour to give pupils and staff an opportunity to live out the teachings of Jesus and the Catholic Church; to be witnesses to our shared faith. Alongside this, all members of the community are encouraged to embrace the unconditional love that Jesus speaks of in the Gospels; they are asked to be Good Samaritans to all those they come across, sharing our gifts and talents to help those in need and to be examples of forgiveness.

St Mary’s High School strives to be a Catholic community in which principles of care and respect are valued, with emphasis on the development of the young person through academic achievement, holistic personal development and religious formation. They aim to give every pupil the most appropriate opportunities to learn and develop to become the best that they can be. We take our ethos from Gospel values and work to draw out the potential in every young person.The most important influences on a child’s values, attitudes and standards are those of family, home and community. They aim therefore, to work in close partnership with parents and carers to encourage all our pupils to have good manners, be kind and develop a sense of responsibility, self -discipline, respect for themselves, for others and for their environment.
