Features

Things to note

Sport
They firmly believe that sport is for everyone. Encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle is central to the ethos of our Sports department at Terrington Hall. Above all, the aim is to help your child to have fun through the sports they love. They have a wide range of both individual and team sports on offer. Whatever your child’s sporting passion, they will always find a positive, engaging environment in which to flourish. And whatever their level of ability, we will help your child discover and achieve their sporting ambitions as part of the active weekly timetable.

Music
Music helps your child to grow in so many ways. Learning an instrument is a chance to express creativity, and develop a skill that builds confidence. Playing with others grows our sense of community and cooperation. They believe your child’s passion for music will blossom if it is built on a firm understanding of musical concepts. At Terrington Hall, all classes work progressively through study units that introduce and consolidate this fundamental knowledge. Most importantly, they also use Music as bridge to other subjects, linking it to the wider curriculum. By combining Music, Drama and Dance they immerse the children in a fully rounded performing arts education.

Drama
Drama helps every child to grow. It expands horizons through storytelling, increases confidence and courage through performance, and offers the satisfaction of creative expression. Your child will grow through each performance – whether that’s in front of classmates, in an assembly or on stage watched by parents. They’ll learn to speak and perform confidently in public - and to respond positively to feedback and direction. All skills that will benefit them for a lifetime. From the first role play sessions in Nursery, through to the Leavers’ Play in Year 8, we celebrate drama as an important contribution to our valued sense of community in the school.

Enrichment
The Enrichment Programme is broad and varied, providing a range of exciting activities which stretch every child and draw upon the varied interests and expertise of our staff. These include but aren’t limited to: brain games and board games where pupils can learn to solve crosswords; cryptic crosswords; Sudoku; word wheels and other cerebral challenges.
