Pre-School
They call ourselves a Pre School because they are more than simply child care. They offer a structured yet immersive Early Years educational experience. Young children thrive as they take ownership of their own learning, supported by the routines of the day. This fully prepares them for Reception and the start of their prep school life. Every child learns, no matter their starting point, and our staff to pupil ratios ensure that every child flourishes as our bespoke approach begins here.
Pre-Prep
The Pre-Prep (Reception to Year 2) is a busy, challenging and exciting environment. Above all, it is a welcoming place where the development of individual strengths and talents is at the heart of everything they do. The staff strive to develop the talents, skills and enthusiasm for learning that will help the girls thrive. Recognition of individual effort and achievement is a key element of the ethos. Girls are encouraged to challenge the boundaries of their own learning which ensures a strong foundation for future success. An open relationship is adopted and parents are encouraged to take an active part in their children’s progress.
Prep School
During the Prep School phase of their education, the children will experience many new things and take even greater strides in academic and personal development. As the girls move through The Granville School they will be expected to take greater responsibility for their learning, having the confidence to take risks and manage the consequences if they are not initially successful, both in their learning and in their everyday lives.As girls progress through Years 3 to 6 (Key Stage Two) they encounter more subject specialists. Science lessons, which are taught in the well-equipped laboratory, strongly feature practical and investigative work.
Sports
Pupils gain much enjoyment in core sports such as Netball, Gymnastics, Dance, Swimming, Hockey, Pop Lacrosse , Rounders, and Athletics. However, many opportunities are available for pupils to try other sports in PE sessions or in co-curricular clubs, such as Football, Running, Tag Rugby, Cricket, Multi skills and Tennis
Drama
The Granville celebrates theatre throughout the year so that performing on stage is a natural part of school life, enjoyed by every girl and inclusive of all talents and interests. Each production is eagerly anticipated by the girls and rehearsals are a hive of shared ideas and generous collaboration. The art of successful storytelling and ensemble playing is central to the creative process – it develops girls who perform with confidence and charisma, establish invaluable life skills, nurture their love of the arts and have a great deal of fun!
Clubs & Activities
At The Granville they firmly believe that a full and exciting programme of extra-curricular activities helps enrich the girls’ education beyond the classroom. They are given the chance to hone their skills and interests as well as develop new ones and it encourages them to explore their physical, creative, social, global, moral and cultural interests with like-minded people. They are also a great way for them to find new friends who they didn’t know shared the same interests. In addition, the girls are given the chance to learn discipline, leadership and teamwork.
Beyond the Classroom
The Granville is a hive of activity on some mornings before school, at lunchtime and after school. The programme of extra activities provides the opportunity to discover the world beyond the academic curriculum helping children to become well rounded individuals. Life beyond the classroom enables the children to learn new skills, develop their individual talents and extend their knowledge. It also helps to develop their team building skills and self-awareness. Activities include: choir, orchestra, ensemble, maypole dancing, drama, touch-typing, computing, gardening, cooking, chess, pottery and sculpture, team practices, running, tennis, swimming, football.

Girls and boys may join Kindergarten in either the term of, or following, their third birthday. They are usually admitted in September, January and April of each year. From Reception, they
welcome applications from girls at any stage during the academic year subject to availability of spaces, and successful completion of the admissions process.

The Granville School has an unrivalled record of results at the 11+ stage. A high number of girls gain scholarships and exhibitions to a variety of sought-after independent schools. The pass rate for the Kent 11+ is over 90%. Girls are prepared for entry into both independent schools and state grammar schools. Staff work in close partnership with parents to help guide them and their daughters through the various different procedures for a wide range of schools. This ensures that the girls fulfil their potential and achieve places in schools where they will thrive.
