Walthamstow Hallis an independent day school for girls aged 3 to 19.

Facilities

  • Class trips to museums, galleries, castles, coastlines and residential venues are regular events in the School calendar as are workshops run in School by outside speakers. Pupils participate in a whole range of local school events from chess tournaments to the Sevenoaks Music Festival.
  • SAIL is an extensive co-curricular programme which enables Junior school pupils to explore a diverse range of academic, sporting, musical or artistic interests. Pupils are encouraged to try new activities alongside their existing interests.
  • Throughout the year, there are opportunities to take advantage of the facilities at the Senior School and pupils are usually transferred by school minibus for these clubs.

Things to note

  • The Junior School Sports programme encourages team-work, personal fitness and competition against other schools and, in some instances to a regional and national level. Swimming, Netball, Rounders, Tennis, Gymnastics and Athletics are key strands of the programme and ballet is also offered as a part of the Early Years curriculum.  
  • Forest School enables pupils to explore their natural woodland environment in all weathers throughout the different seasons. 
  • The curriculum enables all pupils to enjoy Drama, Music, Art and Design Technology. Lessons are led by subject specialists, such as the Head of Music.

Admission Details

Walthamstow Hall Senior School educates girls from Year 7 all the way through to Year 13.  New students are also welcome to join Sixth Form and Year 12 is one of the main points of entry to Walthamstow Hall with girls joining the Sixth Form from a variety of other independent and maintained schools every year. For all admissions enquiries please contact Registrar, Mrs Alex Knight, on 01732 468703 or at [email protected]The majority of Walthamstow Hall Senior School students proceed directly into the Walthamstow Hall Sixth Form. The foundations for Sixth Form life are laid in Years 10 and 11 with sample lessons, taster days, study skills development and personalised discussion of A Level subject choices.Year 12 is also an established entry point for new students and every year we are pleased to welcome new girls join from a variety of other schools.Offers to prospective Sixth Form students are made on the basis of the outcome of an interview with a senior member of staff, the Head’s report from the student’s existing school and predicted GCSE grades. Students wishing to be considered for a scholarship sit entrance papers in the November preceding the September of entry.

Scholarships

Walthamstow Hall Senior School offers financial Awards to pupils who show exceptional promise academically or in sport, drama or art, or a combination of these. This is determined through Walthamstow Hall assessments. There are two types of Award; ‘Exhibitions’ are Awards worth a value of up to 10% of tuition fees and ‘Scholarships’ are Awards worth between 11 and 20%, per discipline, of tuition fees. Pupils wishing to apply for Awards are assessed by examination, interview and, where appropriate, audition/practical assessment. Awards worth 5 – 20% of the value of annual fees are usually the norm but Scholarships of a value up to 50% of the fees are also offered to very exceptional pupils. Recipients of Awards are referred to as ‘scholars’. For Year 9 and Sixth Form Awards, parents can apply for up to a maximum of two disciplines.
