Things to note

Supported by our extensive co-curricular programme, pupils can explore individual interests and passions in and beyond the classroom. Situated in the leafy, idyllic, 100-acre campus in Hertfordshire, just outside of London, Habs shares its wonderful campus with its sister school, Haberdashers' Girls' School. This fantastic opportunity of sharing such a large space with Habs Girls means that the school can also offer the best of single-sex education in a unique co-educational environment. From September 2022, every Sixth Former will be taught at least one subject in a mixed-gender class. It is the school's belief that it has the largest coach network of any school in the UK. With 150 stops, spanning a 30-mile radius for both morning and return journeys, it allows pupils from both Habs Boys and Habs Girls from far and wide to benefit from a Haberdashers' education.

Extra Curricular

  • Music: Music plays a vital role in students’ lives at Habs. When students join us in Year 3, they have free lessons on an orchestral instrument for their first year, with the support of many ensembles subsequently. Our Year 7 intake all sing in the first concert of the year before the Autumn Half Term, and all participate in a weekly mass samba band rehearsal. Our large and expert team of visiting instrumental staff give close to 500 instrumental lessons weekly, and coach approximately 50 chamber ensembles.Outside of term we offer a number of musical activities, including two jazz summer schools which welcome in students from many other schools, and a weekend of massed strings from Year 5 to 13 for the combined Habs Boys’ and Girls’ Schools.
  • Drama: In both academic and co-curricular drama, we train students as theatre makers, giving them a safe space to play, explore and take risks. Each year there will be at least three major co-curricular productions across the school - including adaptations of books and graphic novels, exciting new versions of classic texts, original devised work or plays created with professional writers.Alongside this we offer a wide range of acting and drama clubs, annual House Drama competitions, filmmaking and writing groups.
  • Sport: Physical Education and Games are an integral part of school life. All students are provided with opportunities to participate at some level. Involvement in sport and physical activities are seen to be important in creating team spirit, positive relationships and pride in individual and team achievements beyond the classroom.

  • Clubs: Haberdashers' Boys' School is extremely proud to be able to offer a very full and varied co-curricular programme. There are many clubs and societies available with each one catering for the diverse interests of our talented young students. The pupils are encouraged to explore and try out new activities or to set up their own, with the support of a member of staff, if they have a new and exciting idea. These activities help to enhance their academic learning as well as to provide a rich and fulfilling educational experience beyond the classroom.

  • Trips: Habs offers a wide range of trips to encourage students to widen their knowledge and understanding of the world. These range from day trips to museums and theatres to residential trips to Europe, America and Asia.
