The Kensington School

Description

The Kensington School is Independent Primary school in Kensington and Chelsea for kids aged 2 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

At the heart of our success is the strength of partnership that exists between our staff, students, and their families. They believe that every young person should feel a sense of belonging in the school community and enjoy their learning. As a consequence, the students will leave with the skills and resources they need to take the next step in their lives, confident in their strengths and prepared to meet the challenges of the future. In an ever-changing world, they support and challenge the students to thrive personally, spiritually, academically, socially, and physically. We value the diversity of their identities, beliefs, abilities, talents, interests, backgrounds, and needs, and believe that the happiness, energy, and wellbeing of the community shapes and inspires who they are and what they can become.

Facilities

Lower School
At KPS Lower School, a broad 21st century curriculum is delivered to meet the needs of our students as they develop, grow and prepare themselves for the fast-paced and ever-changing world around us. Alongside a traditional range of academic subjects, we also offer Mandarin from Year 7, and computer science, which is positioned as a fourth science alongside chemistry, biology, and physics. The students learn to work collaboratively across subject areas to achieve shared goals as they work towards GCSE and A-Level qualifications. In the Creative Hub, which centres on our recently refurbished theatre, you will find students in the art studio designing and making costumes using our sewing machines. In the mezzanine, or music studio, there will be students composing and producing digital music or managing our theatre light and sound system, while in the theatre itself, students will be rehearsing drama and musical productions which they may even have written themselves. You might even find students making props for the play!

Sixth Form
Kensington Park School benefits from having its own dedicated Sixth Form where students are prepared for A level exam success and university entry in a specialist teaching environment. Situated to the south of Kensington Gardens, a short walk away from the Lower School, KPS Sixth Form students enjoy all the advantages of being part of the wider school community. The Sixth Form students receive the same level of personal and pastoral support as our younger pupils, and can choose to take part in the many co-curricular activities on offer at the Lower School or get involved with mentoring opportunities. They benefit, however, from lessons taking place on a separate site, with specialist A level teachers and their own personalised timetables.

Things to note

Co Curricular
The extensive co-curricular programme is at the heart of life at Kensington Park School Lower School. Students engage in a variety of sports and physical activities during their PE lessons and Games sessions, but can also explore their sporting and other interests at lunchtimes and after school. We recognise that learning takes place in a variety of environments and settings outside of the classroom, developing our students' skills for their careers and futures. Developing communication, entrepreneurial, and co-curricular skills is crucial to our students' development. Having an opportunity to connect our life, cultural, curricular and co-curricular experiences enables our students to think critically, make important connections, and think beyond their own spheres.
