UCS Pre-Prep is Independent Primary school in Camden for kids aged 4 to 7 (Gender - Mixed )
Laying a foundation for life With each and every one of our pupils, the mission at UCS is simple: to enable them to become the very best versions of themselves. They provide a best-in-class education and outstanding pastoral care, supported by a liberal ethos that forms the bedrock of our school. For us, liberal scholarship means intellectual curiosity, creativity, breadth of study and independence of mind, as a basis for academic excellence. This equips our pupils with something we call ‘a foundation for life’ – qualities young people need in order to go into the world and live out their full potential.
Pre Prep
The aims of the UCS Pre-Prep mirror the ethos of the entire Foundation: intellectual curiosity and independence of mind are nurtured, and self-discovery and self-expression are fostered, as our well-qualified staff support our children in developing their academic and personal qualities.Learning takes place through a variety of carefully planned activities including formal teaching and structured indoor and outdoor play. We ensure that pupils get the focused attention they require through a combination of high staff-to-pupil ratio and Specialist Teachers for Art, Drama, Dance, Music, PE and French. It is a teaching approach that unites high expectations with encouragement, imagination and fun.
Junior Academic
The UCS Junior Branch is a very nurturing but also a highly academic environment. Boys are naturally curious and keen to learn, and their inquisitiveness is actively encouraged together with their own special interests. They follow a very broad curriculum with Specialist Teachers in key subjects: Junior Branch pupils study Mathematics, English, Science, French and Spanish, History, Geography, Art, Drama, Design and Technology, Music, PSHE, Wellbeing, PE and Games.
Senior Academic
They take raw talent and develop it into something exceptional, providing a breadth of education that stirs and inspires. They help pupils find their passion points and discover their future aspirations. At UCS, they see education in the most broad sense and actively encourage pupils to make connections between their subjects and beyond the schemes of work and exam specifications they follow. The aim for all UCS pupils is to discover a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
Sixth Form Academic
In the co-educational Sixth Form, they welcome both girls and boys to the broad, intellectually stimulating and personally satisfying curriculum, where undergraduate-level study skills are developed.Academic life in the Sixth Form at UCS reaches beyond lessons and is characterised by our young people’s day-to-day experience of school. They have access to regular lectures, trips, clubs and societies that complement and stretch their classroom learning.
Pre-Prep Co-curricular
They encourage our pupils to think creatively, explore their environment and problem-solve, thus enabling them to construct their own understanding of the world around them. In co-curricular terms, this means providing a diverse array of opportunities within the school day to enhance and develop their learning experience. The broad and unique span of activities that fall within this co-curricular framework takes place both on the school premises and through assorted educational outings.
Junior Co-curricular
One of our most important aims at the Junior Branch is to present our pupils with a wealth of educational experiences. Consequently we place great emphasis on our extensive range of co-curricular activities organised before, during and after school as well as trips and outings. These include visits to art galleries, museums, theatres, lectures and exhibitions as well as residential stays.
Senior Co-curricular
UCS offers an expansive provision for pupils to learn new skills in our co-curricular programme which is as integral to the UCS educational experience as are classroom lessons and academic subjects. Indeed, the full integration of the co-curriculum into the life of the school is both fundamental and instrumental in developing young people who are ambitious to extend their achievements beyond the classroom.
