A school with a special atmosphere that is set in beautiful rural setting and conveniently located on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Titchfield, close to both Portsmouth and Southampton. West Hill Park provides incredible opportunities to learn, both inside and outside of the classroom; from the forest school or the riding school, to the theatre or the sports fields, all pupils at West Hill Park have the opportunity to try something new.The world that awaits the children of today is changing. It is our role, in partnership with you as a parent, to prepare your child for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. West Hill Park provides a great diversity of opportunity that meets the needs of all its pupils and a team of staff that deliver an outstanding level of pastoral care.
Early Years Foundation Stage
As we move to a curiosity-based curriculum, they are transforming our wonderful environment into a beautiful, calm and tranquil place which very much reflects the home. Neutral colours and cosy places bursting with authentic and natural resources form the basis of inspiration for the children. These authentic resources offer a range of textures to explore and investigate rather than plastic, which looks and smells the same. The snack room for example boasts real china and our role play areas contain authentic clothing and opportunities for the children to create their own costumes. By providing an eclectic collection of resources, children are given far greater opportunities for critical thinking, exploration and new discoveries.
Boarding at West Hill Park
The vibrant and happy boarding house is situated at the heart of the school and is integral to every part of pupil life, providing a supportive home from home to the children. They offer weekly and flexi boarding options so can cater for a wide range of requirements.
Curriculum
Through the diverse and engaging curriculum, we aim not only to acquire knowledge but also to foster ambition, resilience and kindness above all, and develop the key learning skills to build on these character strengths. This level of intellectual maturity is invaluable in later life.A love of learning and a will to discover is perhaps the greatest gift to a child, developing a character flexible and content in a quickly changing world.
Sport
They believe sport and physical activity should be an important part of every child's school life so they work very hard to make sure each one is fully involved regardless of ability. We are lucky enough to have great facilities, including an Astro pitch, swimming pool, tennis and netball courts, large sports fields, riding school and a well equipped sports hall to offer as wide a range of opportunities as possible, allowing each of our pupils to find an enjoyable way to get involved.
Music
At West Hill Park we engage children in a variety of musical work, ranging from singing and performing in school productions to class and concert performances as well as important annual events and services. Involvement in music can lead to the development of many valuable life-skills such as self-confidence, intuition and sensitivity towards others as well as muscular and hand/eye coordination, concentration and listening skills.
Design & Technology
There is no limit to a child's creativity and at West Hill Park we are constantly evolving the Design Technology Department to help children express themselves. They are lucky enough to work in a large open-plan workshop in a converted barn next to the art studio. The workshop is equipped to facilitate manual, power and computer-aided techniques for the cutting, shaping, joining and finishing of a wide range of materials and to suit virtually any design solution.
Art
Art at West Hill Park is mainly taught in a large studio in a converted barn, with rooms that are flooded with natural light. The aim is for children to experience great pleasure in the expressive, creative process and that they leave with a love and appreciation of reflecting on art, and the knowledge that they can excel in their own particular areas and mediums.
