Facilities

Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception
Early Years Foundation Stage at Weston Green School is housed in our purpose-built Early Years building, providing a safe, familiar and happy learning environment for children from the age of two years old. Once a child joins us in Nursery, they are guaranteed a school place with us all the way through to Year Six.It is of paramount importance that our youngest learners feel secure and confident from the moment they start their learning journey with us at Weston Green School. Our Early Years curriculum allows our experienced and dedicated team of Practitioners to focus on each unique child and to give them opportunities to interact in positive relationships and enabling environments that encourage their engagement and recognise their strengths

Years 1 & 2
In Key Stage 1 (KS1) pupils progress from the EYFS to engage in a more formalised style of learning and begin to explore subjects in greater depth, which involves subjects being taught discretely with cross curricular links. Over the past couple of years we have continued to develop our 'Thematic Curriculum' which is now embedded across the school. Learning in this way enables children to remain engaged and motivated, make clear links between subjects and to apply a range of skills across all areas of the curriculum.

Years 3, 4, 5 & 6
Key Stage 2 (KS2) covers Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 of primary education. KS2 pupils progress from the KS1 curriculum to the second stage of a child’s primary education to engage in a more formalised style of teaching and learning and they begin to explore subjects in greater depth, following a balanced thematic curriculum which is now embedded across the school. Learning in this way enables children to remain engaged and motivated, make clear links between subjects and to apply a range of skills across all areas of the curriculum. In Lower Key Stage 2 (Year 3 and 4) the children are taught in mixed ability groups. Offering smaller sized classes allows us to set high expectations as well as fully supporting them to reach their potential through our carefully planned thematic curriculum and differentiated lessons.
