Windlesham School

Description

Windlesham School is Independent Primary school in Brighton and Hove for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

In a short space of time, I learned that Windlesham is a very unique and special place. Yet it’s not simply the warm, kind and caring nature of both the staff and pupils that makes our school feel like a ‘home from home’, it’s also the palpable sense of freedom and the richly diverse community that make every minute of school life at Windlesham, something to cherish. As new Headmaster, my immediate goal is to get to know the children and teachers and to understand the character and personality of each and every individual. The aim of the schools are Providing educational excellence through the provision of effective and inspiring teaching, encouraging enthusiasm for learning and enabling each pupil to achieve their potential;Encouraging pupils to be self-confident, self-motivated and self-disciplined within a safe, nurturing and caring community ensuring they progress to their chosen senior schools as successful individuals.

Prep Prep
The staff are highly qualified and dedicated professionals who have an excellent understanding of how children learn and thrive in a developmental, child-centred way. They encourage the children to explore, ask questions and have some ownership of their own learning journey in a way that allows them to make progress across all areas of the curriculum.

Features

Things to note

Performing Arts
This is reflected in the many famous alumni who have become musicians and actors, including Mumford & Sons, Tom Hiddleston, Sir Michael Hordern, Guy Ritchie, Tamzin Merchant, Adam Buxton, Alfie Allen, Noah Huntley and John Michie. All the children have the opportunity to perform and support backstage too. This year consisted of Bugsy Malone,’ ‘Skellig’ and original bespoke work written especially for the children.

Sports
At Windlesham, our view is that sports are all about games – and games should be fun! The approach is that if a child works their socks off, but the outcome isn’t quite what they had hoped for, we look at the value in the process rather than focusing on the target that wasn’t hit. They like to encourage our children to play multiple sports and feel that early sports specialisation isn’t always the best route forward.

Co Curricular
They offer a wide range of co-curricular activities from polo to street dance, we are lucky to have the current European Champion to coach the children Karate. Professional tennis coaching remains our most popular activity with well over 100 pupils taking lessons during the week and due to our amazing swimming pool we have new activities such as water polo.
