Curriculum Overview
At Colville Primary we follow the National Curriculum. Through the teaching, they aim to help our children succeed and feel positive about themselves, so they may contribute to society as educated, happy and well-balanced young people. We believe that 'happy children learn well'. Pupils are taught Computing, Art and Design, Design and Technology, Music, PE and French (Years 1 to 6) by specialist teachers. They also have specialist dance teachers who come in to school and deliver dance lessons from Years 1-6 through the year. In some subjects, the children have 'knowledge organisers' which are a summary of the key facts and essential knowledge that pupils need about a unit of work. In our English lessons, they refer to these as 'writing toolkits' as they contain skills children will need to be successful writers.

They ensure that children are engaged and challenged as they provide high quality resources, provision and experienced adults. They support the children to develop a love of learning by working with parents to ensure that together they provide the foundations for future success.

Things to note
School Clubs
At Colville Primary they offer a wide range of after school activities that include clubs and lessons in music, sport and the arts. The children enjoy being able to choose with their parents from the list. Children are to bring a healthy snack to have before their club. This can be something like a piece of fruit, crackers or another nut free snack. All food must follow the healthy school policy. Sports clubs will require children to change into their PE kit. The selection of clubs available is shared with parents in time for them to register at 9pm on the first day of term. This process is conducted on line using the 'My Child at School' MCAS. When available, we can offer places to children outside of Colville. There is a 20% surcharge on the club fee for this service.
