Denmark Road High School is leading State Secondary school in Gloucester. This is a Selective school for kids age 11 to 18 years. Gender - Girls
Denmark Road High School is at the heart of Gloucester City. The stunning setting of Gloucester Cathedral welcomes our students and parents for Honour's Evening. This event recognises the outstanding achievements our students have made in Academics, Sports, STEM and the Arts during the academic year. The Cathedral also hosts our Annual Charity Concert and our Christmas Carol Service. They value the role in the community through the contributions our students make to local charities and causes. We are proud our students welcome residents of local nursing homes to a tea party at the school. Other students volunteer at food banks and homeless shelters while the students of local primary schools benefit from the support with their reading and languages during our regular student visits. We regularly highlight and support local charities through various fundraising events throughout the school year.
At Denmark Road High School we understand that we are preparing our young people to embrace more opportunity and face more complex challenges than ever before. They also understand that as our young people leave us they will be less than a quarter of the way through their lives and they will have spent less than 20% of their time in school. We are not producing the finished article. Therefore our purpose is to ensure our young people leave us as empowered individuals ready to move forward with confidence, curiosity, integrity and commitment.
SEND
‘All children can have additional needs at some time in their lives and may need support for a short period of time, or for longer.’ (Gloucestershire’s Joint Strategy 2018-21). Where a student has an additional educational need or a special educational need or a disability, Denmark Road High School will make all reasonable adjustments to accommodate their needs.
Sports Leaders
Students may opt to follow the Sports Leaders course in Year 12 as part of our DISCOVER Programme. This is a valuable extension of the Level 1 leadership course. Students use sport and physical activity to develop their leadership skills, whilst also being physically active. They refine a number of valuable skills such as communication, organisation and responsibility
Performing Arts
In Performing Arts students have the opportunity to choose and explore different aspects of drama, music, singing and songwriting. Students have the freedom and flexibility to work individually and with friends to create unique performances in a relaxed environment.
