Description

Hilden Oaks Preparatory School and Nursery is Independent Primary school in Kent for kids aged 0 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

They are an independent co-educational prep school and nursery for children from 3 months to 11 years of age. The vision is that they want all pupils to say that this is the best school they ever attended, all staff members that it is the best place they have ever worked and all parents that it is the best choice they have ever made for their child.Hilden Oaks is a Values-based Education (VbE) Accredited School. As a VbE school the pupils, staff and parents have identified a suite of values which they hold at the heart of our school community. These values underpin all that they are and everything they do as a school; they create a framework which informs the standards of behaviour to which they all hold ourselves accountable, they provide a shared vocabulary through which pupils can articulate the school culture and they offer a benchmark for pupils as they learn how to interact with others as part of both the school community and society as a whole.

Facilities

Nursery
The Hilden Oaks Nursery offers outstanding, unique and flexible care for children from the age of three months. They understand that parents want to give their child the best possible start in life, and the vibrant and nurturing nursery environment provides a gentle introduction to school life, allowing children to progress seamlessly through to more formal schooling. The staff are fully qualified, and the children enjoy exceptional levels of staffing care, with a high ratio of staff to children. They are committed to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, focusing on the development of the whole child.

Pre School
At Hilden Oaks, they aim high to give children the best possible start to their education and place each child at the centre of everything they do. The team are highly skilled professionals who have an in-depth understanding of early child development. They support the children to learn through play both inside and outside, closely following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum in order to develop and track each child’s learning and development.Learning opportunities are planned to provide challenge, developing not only knowledge but also the skills and abilities that allow the children to question, debate, collaborate and problem solve, building upon skills they have previously acquired in Kindergarten.

Reception
As children reach Reception they are at the top of the Early Years department, and we focus on supporting them through the transition to Pre-Prep (Key Stage 1). This includes a curriculum that will ensure that all children achieve the Early Years Learning Goals—the foundation for their future learning.  They work hard as a team to ensure that the transition to Reception from home or nursery is made as easy and stress-free as possible for the children.

Preparatory School
Hilden Oaks Preparatory School is made up of Pre-Prep and Prep, which takes children from Form 1 through to Form 6. Children joining the school at any stage, even mid-term, are made to feel at home very quickly as they are in small classes, in a small and friendly school, with an excellent quality of pastoral care. They are committed to providing a happy and effective education for all our children and believe that every child at our school deserves the best. The dedicated teaching staff ensure that each child achieves their full potential, be it academic, sporting, creative or musical. They ensure that all our children leave Hilden Oaks ready for the next stage of their academic life.

Features

Things to note

Sport
First and foremost sport is about participation and enjoyment. At Hilden Oaks, the aim is to provide a meaningful programme of physical activities to inspire, motivate, recognise, guide and support each individual pupil to reach their full potential. We believe an optimal learning environment is one which develops skills, character and values. By instilling a positive behaviour it is hoped the pupils will continue to lead healthy, active lives into adulthood.

Music
The Music Department is very active throughout the school. Weekly class music lessons are taught to all year groups from Transition to Form 6 by specialist music teachers. In these lessons the emphasis is on practical participation by all children. There are many opportunities to take part in formal and informal concerts from Transition onwards. The formal concerts take place at St Saviour's Church,  which is situated opposite Hilden Oaks, and weekly informal concerts form part of Values Assembly in the School Hall.

Drama
Every year each child from Reception through to Form 6 participates in a drama or musical production. Reception presents a Nativity, Forms 1 & 2 perform their productions during the Lent term, and Forms 3, 4, 5 and 6 perform in the Trinity term.  For the musical productions, and where possible, the songs in the shows are accompanied by a band or smaller ensemble of pupils from the relevant class,  playing specially arranged music.

After-School Clubs
There are many extra-curricular clubs and activities on offer during morning break, lunch-time and after school including a wide range of musical, creative and sporting activities. These clubs vary each term and the children are encouraged to sign up for as many or as few as they wish. Many of the clubs are run by the own teaching staff, and they also bring in specialists from outside to allow the children to enjoy as wide a range of clubs as much as possible.
