Kensington Wade is the first prep school in the UK to offer an immersive English and Chinese education from ages 3 to 11. The school has been founded to respond to a surprising gap in the market – the lack of an English-Chinese dual language school that ensures a thorough grounding in Chinese, while providing the best of English Independent School education. An increasing number of English schools are starting to offer a modest amount of Chinese language teaching but given the nature of the Chinese language and the demands of the existing curriculum, the time and energy devoted to learning Chinese is insufficient to learn both the language and the culture properly.

The Early Years
The early years of a child's education are the most important. This is the time that they learn to play, share, explore, sing and look at the world with wonder. We aim to provide a warm, but stimulating environment where every child can flourish and develop these vital skills that will be with them for the rest of their lives.Nursery and Reception class follow the Early Years Foundation Framework. This is delivered through our dual language immersion programme allowing children to be exposed to both languages for equal amounts of time. They spend half their day in an English classroom, where only English is spoken and half in a Chinese classroom, where only Mandarin is spoken.
Prep School
At this stage the curriculum is still delivered through themes but is gradually leading to a more subject-based approach. Pupils learn the following subjects: English, Chinese, Mathematics, Geography, History, Philosophy and Theology, Computing, Art & Design, Music, Physical Education, PSHE. The teaching programme builds knowledge systematically year-by-year. Core Knowledge is our foundation and our methods are a blend of the best of English and Chinese schooling.

Kensington Wade is based on a large site on Fulham Palace Road, with specialist Music, Sport, Art & ICT teaching spaces. With a large hall and outdoor playground on site, the children enjoy frequent sports lessons, and there are two large outdoor playgrounds, one to be equipped with a new climbing frame. The school is opposite the excellent Charing Cross Sports Club and swimming pool, gives the children a very accessible space for extra sports lessons and activities, as well as a number of local parks which offer the opportunity of additional outdoor activities.
