Marlborough House School is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 2 to 13 (Gender - 2 to 13 )
Set in beautiful extensive grounds, on the border of Kent and East Sussex, Marlborough House is a country Prep School with a distinctly family feel; small enough for everyone to be known and cared for whilst still embracing the future that our children will be part of. With small classes, high staff to pupil ratios and ISI rated 'Excellent' Academic and Pastoral Care, every pupil, from 2.5 to 13, is known by name and becomes part of the Marlborough House family. The care of the pupils is central to school life and we recognise that only a happy child can truly become a confident and independent learner. At MHS, every child is encouraged and supported to excel and reach their goals through nurture and challenge.
Nursery
The Nursery at Marlborough House is where our youngest children (from 2.5 years) start their school journey. Harnessing their natural curiosity, imagination and energy they create an environment that allows our children to flourish and learn whilst feeling happy and secure. Situated in a bright and welcoming building our Nursery has its own beautiful, sunny walled garden allowing for plenty of fun and fresh air. The Nursery children love their animals; rearing chicks from eggs every spring, and keeping chickens, tortoises and guinea pigs in the Nursery garden.
Pre Prep
Marlborough House Pre-Prep is a warm and happy place to learn and discover for pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. The children are encouraged to explore and take risks and to become active learners through an exciting and creative curriculum. With a qualified teacher and teaching assistant in each class, our excellent adult/child ratio enables us to get to know our children very well, allowing work to have the individual focus on which we pride ourselves. All class work is differentiated according to the need of the child so that we can support and extend progress in all areas. Children in Pre-Prep also have specialist teaching for Music, French or Spanish, Games and ICT.
Prep
When children move up to the Prep school in Year 3, they begin to experience the full breadth of opportunities available to them at MHS. At every stage our children are keen to get the very most out of every experience they are offered whether it is through competing on the pitches, performing in a play, discovering new talents in clubs or enjoying the fun of boarding. In the senior years, children also have the opportunity to be school leaders, go on oversees trips and take part in the Leavers' Programme in Year 8.Our children achieve fantastic results in all areas of school life, but more importantly, they do not take the opportunities they have for granted; rather their experiences here help build self-assured individuals who are extremely supportive of each other
CLUBS & TRIPS
Life at Marlborough House extends well beyond the classroom where extra-curricular trips and activities enrich children’s experiences, developing the skills children will need to thrive as adults in the 21st century. A key strength of Marlborough House is the outstanding quality and enviable variety of our extra-curricular programme which is offered to children in both the Pre-Prep and Prep School.
SPORT
At Marlborough House sport really IS for ALL, so they strive to create as many and varied opportunities for all boys and girls at all levels of ability both in learning and competitive environments. Our highly qualified coaches ensure that enjoyment, inclusion and preparation from the youngest age are the keys to the success of sport at MHS.We believe that school sport, in all its forms, experienced in a safe and supportive environment, is a unique and vital contributor to a pupil’s physical development and well-being. We also recognise the benefits of ‘letting off steam’ in the fresh air (or in our spacious sports hall if the British weather turns on us!).
ART
They believe it is important to nurture the creativity, passion and individuality of each child at the school. The Creative and Performing Arts enhance pupils' understanding of the world around them and also broaden their perspective on traditional academic subjects. Art, Design Technology, Music and Drama are integral to the broad and comprehensive education they offer here at Marlborough House and give children the opportunity to express themselves in a multitude of ways.
