Description

Nonsuch High School for Girls is leading State Secondary school in Sutton. This is a Selective school for kids age 11 to 18 years. Gender - Girls

Nonsuch High School for Girls is fully committed to the safeguarding of all our students. Not only do girls here achieve academic excellence but they enjoy contributing to the school and wider community.  In taking part in sporting, creative and fund-raising activities they develop their skills of leadership, creativity and awareness of the world around them.  We are ambitious for their whole development in preparing them to be perceptive and caring global citizens who are not only prepared for the 21st century but who understand its complexity.  In a rapidly evolving world they need to learn to manage uncertainty, make wise choices and develop the skills and desire for life-long learning. The pastoral support at the school by tutors and teachers helps girls and young women to manage themselves and their emotions as they move through adolescence and leave school as emerging adults.

KS3 CURRICULUM
KS3 provides the bedrock of knowledge for success at KS4.  It aims to address gaps in knowledge from KS2 into KS3 and to deepen students’ knowledge in specialist subject areas.  In addition to the core subjects and Humanities and Arts, students study separate sciences from year 8 and are introduced to a modern foreign language as well as Latin in year 7 and then another language in year 8.  This exposure to language develops students’ grammatical literacy. Through all subjects, students are provided with opportunities to develop their research and analytical skills and to articulate their opinions coherently and confidently.

KS4 CURRICULUM
Students are encouraged to choose whichever options they want and we are proud that we build our curriculum around their choices. KS4 options allow for greater personalisation of a challenging, broad and rich curriculum. While the majority achieve the EBacc qualification, not all choose those paths. Students develop oracy further to become articulate and confident in expressing opinions informed by a knowledge rich curriculum. We aim to develop a love of learning and scholarship so that students flourish in KS5.

KS5 CURRICULUM
The KS5 curriculum provides specialisation, depth and skills to equip our students to be successful in the 21st century.  Our curriculum aims to stimulate our students intellectually through engendering a spirit of scholarship and enquiry.  It develops in our students the ability to assess the validity and appropriateness of sources in an information-rich, global society. Students take increasing responsibility for their own learning by reflecting on and responding to assessment and feedback and engaging in wider reading and research.
