Sixth Form Life
The Sixth Form at Pate’s is an exciting place to be. At that time in their lives when students are beginning to think about what their future might hold, and what impact they will have on the world, Pate’s Sixth Form is a seedbed for big ideas and ambitious plans. These two years are a time to learn new ways of working, in preparation for the independence of university or other training opportunities; students are encouraged to take more responsibility for their studies, proactively seeking out knowledge to enhance their understanding beyond the curriculum.
Music at Pate’s
Music flourishes at Pate's, both as an academic subject and as an important part of wider school life. The excellence of the music department has been nationally recognised with a Business Education Award and a Gold Award from the Incorporated Society of Musicians. Many of our musicians play or sing in national and county ensembles, and whether in assembly, concerts, lessons, workshops or tours, there are many opportunities for making music.
Drama at Pate’s
Drama at Pate’s is exciting and vibrant. Students are pushed not only academically but also in the wider life of the school to take risks, be independent and create theatre that matters to them. At Pate’s there is a range of co-curricular opportunities to become involved in Drama. At lunch times, the Performing Arts Block is buzzing with students whether they be practising their monologue for Cheltenham festival, wracking their brains to refine that last puzzle of their own group performances, or attending one of our lunch time clubs.
Sport at Pate’s
Sport at Pate's thrives; a packed extra-curricular programme ensures opportunities for all. Each lunchtime our school field, astro-turf, sports hall and gym are alive with activity - from badminton to basketball and handball to hockey. On a Saturday morning the sports field is equally busy, we proudly retain Saturday morning fixtures, alongside fixtures arranged as part of our afternoon games programme.
Selection Criteria: Selective
Admissions 7 – 11
Pate’s is required to operate in line with the Local Education Authority’s co-ordinated scheme for school admissions. Pate’s is a selective school, and has only 150 places available in Year 7. To be considered for admission into Year 7 at Pate’s pupils must achieve the qualifying score in the Admissions Test organised by the school. To sit the test parents must register their child with Pate’s – using the online registration form. Parents must also make a separate application to the Local Education Authority, using the LEA’s normal Preference Form – failure to apply through the LEA, or failure to include Pate’s as one of the ranked choices on the LEA form, will mean that a child cannot be considered for entry to Pate’s in the normal admissions round.
