Saffron Walden County High School is leading State Secondary school in Saffron Walden. This is a Non-selective school for kids age 11 to 18 years. Gender - Mixed

The mission of Saffron Walden County High School is to be 'a local school of exceptional quality', what this means in practice is that we constantly strive to provide the highest quality education to young people in the Saffron Walden area.  It is the kind of quality that is demonstrated by outstanding achievement at all levels, high expectations of behaviour, excellent teaching and learning and a broad and rich curriculum.

CURRICULUM
Saffron Walden County High School’s mission, which has not changed in three decades, is to be ‘a local school of exceptional quality’.  They believe an exceptional curriculum not only stretches and inspires students to achieve highly, but also ensures they leave school with a depth of academic knowledge and a rich cultural capital.  Students make excellent progress and achieve outstanding exam success at SWCHS, but we do not see the curriculum as being just about examination success; subject enrichment is built into our daily offer to students - teachers teach beyond the specification and teach to the top.  We aim to exceed national expectations for our provision at every stage and in every subject.

SIXTH FORM
The Sixth Form at Saffron Walden County High, will give you every opportunity to succeed in achieving your goals; whether that is seeking university, apprenticeships or employment.  The facilities, support and care you will receive is exceptional and we are proud to be one of the leading Sixth Forms in the country.  There is no catchment area for our Sixth Form, so wherever you come from, come and    discover your potential!

EXTRA-CURRICULAR
At SWCHS they want all students to participate in extra-curricular activities.  Not only do they believe it enriches them by giving them new experiences but also helps them learn different skills and offers them opportunities to collaborate with others and learn more about themselves. They have a vibrant Music, Drama and PE department with hundreds of students taking part in both regular clubs and special events.
