Admission Details

St Mary’s Calne welcomes girls between the ages of 11 and 18. Girls are selected on the basis of sound academic achievement and their potential to contribute to the many different areas of school life. They encourage equal opportunities for all, and do not discriminate against applicants on the grounds of race, creed or disability. Following an initial enquiry, there is an opportunity for parents to meet the Head and be given a guided tour of the school and its facilities. At this stage, parents will be invited to register their daughter by returning a completed Registration Form and non-refundable fee of £250. Parents will receive confirmation of registration for the appropriate year of entry. All girls who are registered for entry to St Mary’s will receive regular newsletters and details of events being held at school. Girls registered for 11+, 12+ or 13+ will be invited to a Taster Day, which is an informal day full of activities that will encourage girls to get to know one another and become more familiar with the school, and enable the school to begin to know them. Girls will be invited to attend an Entrance Day which is a time for St Mary’s to assess and evaluate each girl. St Mary’s will request references prior to this day from the Head of each girl’s school. St Mary’s will then inform parents on the next appropriate step for their daughter. Girls exhibiting outstanding promise at Entrance Day will be invited to enter scholarship examinations. To be accepted for entry via this route, St Mary’s must be selected as the first choice school and approval for such entry must be given in writing by the girl’s present Head Teacher. Places are offered subject to satisfactory performance at examination and acceptance of the standard terms and conditions and Parent School Contract agreement.
