Description

THE SUNDAY TIMES LONDON INDEPENDENT SECONDARY SCHOOL OF THE YEAR

"Parents love Godolphin and Latymer not just for the academic success it brings their daughters, but for the school’s holistic approach to their education in the broadest sense."

Godolphin girls are warm, lively and grounded in the real world, achieve excellent GCSE, A Level and IB results, but wear their academic credentials lightly. A wide curricular and extra-curricular programme enriches student life and ensures each individual girl can reach her potential and pursue her interests and passions.

We are an academically selective day school for girls aged 11-18; girls sit 11+ entrance examinations and in the Sixth Form can choose to pursue the IB or A Level pathway. At Godolphin, girls freely exchange ideas and opinions and pursue leadership opportunities and positions of responsibility, without any perceived limits or stereotypes. Our pastoral care ensures that each individual girl is known and supported with initiatives that encourage risk-taking, resilience and a belief that nothing is beyond her reach or aspiration.

Our girls step into the world with places at their first-choice universities: remarkable, respectful and courageous young women who are armed with the talents and ambition to succeed, wherever life takes them.

Facilities

Visitors are often surprised by the size of our campus where historic buildings – including a converted church – sit side-by-side with modern facilities interconnected by tranquil gardens and courtyards.

Our recently opened on-site sports centre includes a fabulous sports hall which is equipped and marked-out for cricket, football, fencing, badminton, basketball, netball, volleyball and hockey – plus a full-height climbing wall and professional sound system. There’s a dance studio, separate fully-equipped fitness studio, and a dual-aspect viewing gallery overlooking the sports hall and the outside astro pitches. These flood-lit pitches include hockey pitches – doubling up for rounders and athletics in the summer – adjacent to netball and tennis courts. Having all these facilities on-site means that they are a hive of activity before school, during breaks and lunchtime and after school.

A converted church accommodates our wonderfully versatile performing arts centre with a glass atrium providing light and open spaces. This connects to the modern music school with its rehearsal and practice rooms and a fully-equipped music suite. Inspiring art studios are flooded with natural light, and our design and technology and food technology workshops add to our extensive curricular and extra-curricular programme. There’s a well-stocked library and impressively equipped science block with modern labs and interactive learning spaces.

Godolphin and Latymer is just a stone’s throw away from Hammersmith Broadway, benefitting from easy access to world-class museums, galleries and theatres, yet situated in a quiet oasis of tree-lined streets away from the busy arterial roads.

Admission Details

11+ Entry

ISEB Common Pre-test - In response to the Covid-19 pandemic this year,  we decided to use the ISEB Common Pre-test. This is a computer-based test with sections covering Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning, English and Maths, and it takes two and a half hours to complete. Students were able to sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test at their own junior schools, at other senior schools, or at Godolphin and Latymer, reducing the need for travel and enabling them to stay within their own ‘bubble’.

School reference: We continued to contact a candidate’s current school for a reference

Interview: Those who did well in the entrance test were invited to attend an on-line interview so that we could get to know them better and assess whether Godolphin and Latymer is the right school for them.

A decision on the 2022 entrance examination process will be taken later in the year.

16th Entry

The Sixth Form is a very exciting time at Godolphin and Latymer where we offer both the A Level and IB pathways and a myriad of opportunities for leadership responsibilities and exploration beyond the curriculum. A number of students join us every year from a range of secondary schools.

  • First you register for the school
  • then candidates complete the second part of the process – the Subject Choice Form which requests further details about your daughter’s application.

The first stage of our selection process will be for students to sit a cognitive abilities test at Godolphin and Latymer; candidates who meet the required level in the assessment will be invited for a series of structured subject interviews.
