St Bede's School, Redhill is a State Secondary School for kids aged 11 to 18 (Gender - Mixed)
St Bede's aims to provide 'Christian education at its best'. When inspected by Ofsted in February 2017, every aspect of its work was judged as 'outstanding' and the Christian character of the school was similarly described as 'outstanding' by diocesan inspectors in December 2017. St Bede's is unique as the only state-funded school in the UK where Anglicans, Roman Catholics and the Free Churches are bound together in a formal ecumenical partnership. They are proud to serve roughly 1,800 boys and girls of all abilities, age 11-18, from the Reigate, Redhill, Caterham, Horley and surrounding areas. They want every child to thrive as they seek to promote five key values: Belonging, Education, Determination, Excellence and Service
Curriculum at St Bede's
They strive to provide ‘Christian education at its best’ embracing the values of Belonging, Education, Determination, Excellence and Service (BEDES). At St Bede’s they offer a broad and balanced curriculum that is accessible and ambitious for all students including those from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with special educational needs. The curriculum provides opportunities for students to gain secure knowledge across a wide range of subjects and develop key, transferable, lifelong skills. Students at St Bede's are happy and flourish because they are supported in an environment where they are cared for and encouraged to be individuals. The curriculum at St Bede’s has been carefully created to ensure that they meet national curriculum expectations and effectively tackles each examination specification.
Extra-Curricular Clubs
At St Bede's School they are pleased to offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities open to all age ranges. They hope there is something that everyone can get involved in as they believe that enhancing the taught curriculum in this way leads to a good all round education. It is also a great opportunity for students to try something new. Please note that at the beginning of each term clubs are reviewed to give staff the chance to settle in before committing to an extra curricular activity. Not all clubs are suitable for all seasons.
Inclusion & SEND
Inclusion and Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) at St Bede’s aims to identify and overcome potential barriers to learning and to meet the needs of all SEND students within and beyond the school setting. The SEND team helps students who have difficulties with cognition and learning, those with communication difficulties, social, emotional and behaviour difficulties and those with sensory and physical difficulties. The SEND provision takes into account the full scope of student support, first and foremost this is the delivery of high quality, whole class teaching, guided and group work and individual interventions.
