CURRICULUM
All of the pupils are highly able and through our curriculum, we seek to empower all, irrespective of any barriers of challenges they may face, to cultivate and realise the highest aspirations for their futures within and beyond the school, and to embrace skills and knowledge which go above and beyond that which is usually anticipated or required at any given key stage.
MUSIC
Music plays an important role at St. Olave's. In addition to curriculum tuition, there are very many opportunities here for Olavians to develop musical abilities and enthusiasms which we hope they will carry with them throughout their lives.
SPORTS
St. Olave's offers a plethora of opportunities to allow students to engage in different sporting activities at school, with clubs running at lunchtime and after school, alongside the standard curriculum. These clubs are run by members of the PE department, external specialists and Sport's Prefects.
DRAMA
A number of extra-curricular productions take place during the year. We alternate between a musical and a play for our main school show, with recent productions including ‘Guys and Dolls’,’The Crucible’ and ‘Les Miserables’. On the years we have a whole school play, we also have an additional production of extracts from different musicals to provide opportunities for singing and dancing. These large scale school productions are supplemented by student-directed plays, with recent offerings including ‘Our Town’ and ‘Twelfth Night’.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARDS
The Duke of Edinburgh's award scheme is a very well established programme which seeks to give all young people aged 14-24 the chance to develop skills for life and work, fulfil their potential and have a bright future.
Selection Criteria: Selective
The Governing Body is the admission authority for the School and is therefore responsible for admissions. As a designated State Grammar School we select pupils purely on the basis of high academic performance in our Entrance Tests. The main points of entry are in Year 7 and Year 12. In addition, up to 4 places are available annually via the Wakeham Choristership Scheme. Only on rare occasions a vacancy may arise ‘In-Year’.
