St Ronan's School is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 3 to 13 (Gender - 3 to 13 )

Saint Ronan's School is a traditional co-educational Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep School for children aged 3 to 13, with a distinguished history and an excellent academic record. It is a family school with an informal and happy atmosphere where staff are approachable and mud unremarkable. The School, in Hawkhurst in Kent, is just five miles from the A21 and twenty minutes from Tunbridge Wells. Saint Ronan’s provides a happy environment for children to remain just that. We want the children to enjoy school, relish the opportunities offered and be inspired to work hard, to be kind, gentle, courteous and honest.

Facilities

Nursery
Saint Ronan’s Nursery provides children with a gentle introduction to school life whilst establishing solid foundations. The Nursery is housed in the Groom’s Cottage and garden, which has a homely feel for the children as they start their education.Children start in Nursery by attending at least two morning sessions per week and increasing their hours as they develop in maturity and stamina. Attendance is flexible in order to fulfil the needs of individual children and parents

Pre-Prep
What a wonderful place our Pre-Prep is. Education here is a journey of discovery and adventure. Because we want each child’s individual journey to be filled with excitement and joy, the teachers work hard to create extraordinary spaces for young children to play and learn in.At Saint Ronan’s a stimulating and varied curriculum is used to guide the children in exploring and gaining an understanding of the world around them. Each child is encouraged to think for him or herself and to ask the question ‘why’. Characteristics such as imagination, awareness, perseverance, cooperation, curiosity and empathy are encouraged throughout the school.

Prep School
The Prep School is housed in the main mansion where the former reception rooms and bedrooms of the ‘old house’ have been converted to classrooms or dormitories. Children join the Prep School in Year 3 and progress through the school in year groups. Teaching in Year 3 is largely form-based, with setting first being introduced in Year 4. The scope of the setting is increased in the later years. The majority of the children leave at 13+ and the school has a very good record in preparing children for their Common Entrance and Scholarship exams, as well as the Cranbrook assessment.

Features

Things to note

Mini Club
Children can enjoy a longer school day by doing a Mini Club. Experienced and qualified Early Years staff will care for our youngest children while they enjoy their tea and play in the familiar and comforting surroundings of the Nursery. There will be time to relax during story time, as well as have fun with friends.

Forest School
Forest School offers chances for the children to build on the skills and experiences, confidence and independence they have previously acquired in the Nursery. They are able to further develop their critical thinking, problem solving and team building skills. They begin to use real tools to create natural crafts, build fires and their imagination is given plenty of opportunity to flourish. How lovely it is for the children to leave behind their academic timetable and enjoy the natural outdoors by climbing trees, fishing for tadpoles, eating wild garlic and making mud pies.

After School Clubs
We appreciate that, for busy parents, a 3.30pm finish to the school day is a little too early. They therefore offer an extended day, until 5.10pm. Nursery children can join the ‘Mini-Club’, which runs after school every day. The children stay in the Nursery cottage and garden, with staff that are familiar to them. They are free to play with their friends and enjoy a ‘high tea’ of sandwiches, cake and fruit
