St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary School is a state primary school for kids age 3 - 11 (Gender - Mixed)

St Thomas of Canterbury is first and foremost a Catholic school and this ethos underpins everything that we do – “Jesus is at the heart of everything we think, do and say.” Through this approach they are able to develop the whole child; academically, socially, spiritually and emotionally. In this way, the children leave St Thomas’ ready for the next stage of their education, developing them into lifelong learners.At St Thomas’ they have a caring and dedicated team of staff who work hard to ensure that the children receive the best education possible. Aside from the core subjects of English, Maths and RE, the curriculum includes an art specialist delivering high quality lessons to all classes and sports coaches delivering lessons to the whole school from Nursery to Year 6. We are also proud of the many trips they send the children on to enhance and enrich their curriculum experience.

CURRICULUM
At St Thomas of Canterbury, the mission is to inspire each child to achieve their full potential through excellent teaching in our Catholic school. They seek to develop the ‘whole child’ through our curriculum, which aims to develop their academic knowledge and skills, their spirituality, their creativity and their sense of well-being, to prepare them for the next stage of their learning journey. The broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum provides equal access to all learners, including children from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with SEND.

Things to note

Catholic Primary School (Cadogan Street), and Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School. They were delighted to be joined at school recently by Paul Stubbings, Headmaster of CVMS and CEO of the Trust, who took attendees through some of the benefits of this new partnership. These include the sharing of resources, expertise, and staff, to enhance what each school already has; for example, CVMS staff will be working closely with St Thomas' to improve our provision across a number of subjects, particularly Computing, STEM, and Modern Foreign Languages. They are also pleased to announce that St Thomas SENCO Mrs Fagan will be working closely with CVMS two days a week to enhance their SEN offering. Beyond this, the partnership aims to develop the transition process between Year 6 and 7, ensuring that our pupils feel appropriately prepared for the challenges of secondary school, as well as enabling Year 7 leaders to understand any challenges that their new intake may be facing.
